Why have energy labels changed?
Since March 2021, a new A to G scale has replaced the previous A+++ to D system. The new system is simpler so it’s easy to see at-a-glance which are the most energy-efficient appliances.
It also allows for innovation because it has space to recognise future energy efficiency improvements. Many of today’s most efficient products won’t get the new A rating, so manufacturers will have to increase efficiencies to reach the highest grade.

Hive bulbs haven't changed, even if their rating has
Products that used to get the top rating in the older system will only qualify for much lower grades in the new one. For example, Hive Bulbs were previously top-rated, and they will only get an F or G rating now.
But don’t panic - this doesn’t mean they’ve suddenly got worse! They’re just as efficient as they’ve always been, it’s just that the goal posts have moved.
